The office of the Clerk of Courts traces its origin to the medieval cleric, who maintained the records, was responsible for correspondence and had powers to issue writs or other processes ordered by the Court. The office of the Warren County Clerk of Courts traces its origin to 1802 when the Ohio Constitution was enacted. The responsibilities of the Clerk are varied and have grown tremendously over the years. These responsibilities are now set forth in over 300 sections of the Ohio Revised Code.
